lyrics
All the nevers
Verse 1
you'll never get to cuddle me in your arms and rock me gently to sleep,
while you stare in my little face seeing the best part of you in me,
you'll never know the feeling of being needed like when you leave the room and I start to cry
you'll never hear family gather around begging to hold me saying I have your eyes,
you'll never hear me say my first word, which would've been your name…
or get to give me a bath then talk to me softly until sleepiness came,
you'll never get to make weird noises and funny faces just to see me grin…
you'll never see me go from crawling to walking or see my first tooth come in,
you'll never get to send me off to my first day of school…
anshously waiting for me to get out, worrying yourself like a fool,
end----------------------------------------------------------
verse 2
when I slip and fall on the playground you'll never be there to wipe my tears,
you'll never get to wish me a happy birthday once every year
you'll never know how appreciated you feel when I complement you on how great your cooking taste,
knowing what you heard wasn't empty words by the smile on my face and how fast I cleaned my plate,
you'll never get to watch me grow taller grade after grade
or sit in excitement watching me parade across stage in holiday school plays,
you'll never see me as a teenager in high school with more maturity on my face
the book reports, dances, sports and wanting to go out on dates,
you'll never hear me beg you to let me drive with the most saddest puppy dog frown…
or experience that sense of pride when i graduate in that cap and gown,
end----------------------------------------------------------------
Verse 3
you'll never congratulate me on my first job
or see the first pay check I get,
or take me to the dealership to help me with the first car I pick…
you'll never get the hugs, kisses and mother’s day cards over the years I'd drown you with
or see me move in my first apt. hiding how much i’ll be miss…
you'll never know how it feels to be so pleased at the adult I've become…
or know the happiness that overcomes you when I tell you I've found that special one,
you'll never give me your blessing or be at my wedding when I say “ I do”
or at my reception when glasses are raised and I tell them “i wouldn't be here if it Wasn’t for you,
so continue on mother, you'll have second thoughts for the rest of your life believe me,
but before you go, I just want to know, was that enough nevers for you not to leave me?
